The half octagon stage at the One-Eyed Gypsy on the outskirts of Downtown L.A., barely contains tonight’s band. The Downtown Train-not the actual metro but the band-is bluesy, loud, real hip music. In between songs the singer and guitarist speaks, a sort of poetry that makes my heart melt, and while they play-Ned the drummer, Matt the bassist, and Bevi who plays the harmonica-a swell of dancers boogie.

A tasty tipple the ‘pikey’ Irish traveler character from the movie Snatch, played by Brad Pitt, would approve of, no doubt.
